This mountain architecture project responds to a steep hillside plot in the high-altitude municipality of La Coma i la Pedra. To meet the client’s strict budget constraints, the design prioritizes an ultra-compact footprint. This strategy minimizes the total floor area, cutting down construction costs while optimizing thermal efficiency.
The architectural program spans a clever two-story layout. Street access integrates a seamless parking platform leading directly into the main living areas. Above this zone, a suspended mezzanine floor functions as a dedicated home office, opening onto a mid-slope garden facing the street. In contrast, the quiet night area occupies the lower level, offering direct access to the flat garden at the bottom of the plot.
A monolithic slate stone skin completely envelops the structure. This dark exterior cladding closes the house off from the street for privacy while opening the layout to the mountain landscape. A large private terrace and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows visually extend the interior spaces toward the valley views.
Finally, the interior design features natural pine wood flooring and custom woodwork paired with a light color palette. This minimalist material selection brings warmth and tranquility to the spaces, fully achieving the peaceful atmosphere required for a modern mountain holiday home.
