M2Arquitectura

M2ARQUITECTURA is an architecture studio founded in Barcelona by Meritxell Lázaro Vilalta and Mischa Essletzbichler in 2001. Our identity is defined by two cultures, two different working methods, a shared way of understanding architecture, and the ability to serve our clients in four languages: Spanish, Catalan, English, or German.

More than 20 years of professional experience with local and international clients back us up.

We advise our clients by recognizing their needs. We gather the environmental conditions and design accordingly, looking to the future while respecting the past. We create spaces that combine functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability, reflecting a passion for detail and well-done work.

MERITXELL LÁZARO VILALTA

Architect and founding partner

Spain 1975, architect graduated from the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB-UPC) in 2000, and awarded an ERASMUS scholarship at the Technische Universität Wien for the 1998-99 academic year.

For more than 12 years, she has combined her professional practice with her role as county architect for the Priorat County Council and as municipal architect for several city councils in the Priorat region.

Currently, she combines her professional activity with teaching at the Higher School of Design and Plastic Arts of Catalonia (ESDAPC) and at the Deià School of Art and Design in Barcelona.

MISCHA ESSLETZBICHLER

Architect and founding partner

Austria 1972, architect graduated from the Technische Universität Wien in 2001, and awarded an ERASMUS scholarship at the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB-UPC) for the 1997-98 academic year.

For more than 10 years, he has combined his professional practice as an architect with his professional activity as a real estate consultant and an architecture and urban planning guide for Barcelona and its metropolitan area.

At our studio, management capability and multidisciplinary work are fundamental pillars.

How do we work?

1. First contact

We listen to our client’s ideas and needs.

2. Concept design & preliminary studies

We transform the client’s ideas and needs into a creative process, analyzing the site and its regulations to reach a definitive, agreed-upon document for the development of both the technical project and future construction.

3. Design development & technical project

We draft the necessary technical documentation to obtain the municipal building permit and establish the final construction budget.

4. Construction supervision

We conduct the necessary site visits to ensure excellence in construction.

5. Project completion

We hand over the completed project along with all final as-built technical documentation.
