This urban townhouse architecture project is built on a compact 3.95-meter-wide plot between party walls. Located on a semi-pedestrian street in Barcelona’s historic Gràcia neighborhood, the building integrates a residential program across three levels. Due to the client’s professional needs, a custom recording studio occupies the basement floor, seamlessly blending a private home with a creative workspace.
The central circulation core features a sculptural steel staircase. This striking element acts as the main route between all rooms, running throughout the entire building height. Crucially, the staircase remains visually present in every interior perspective, anchoring the open-plan spaces.
The interior design embraces a strict material neutrality to maximize natural light. It incorporates premium oak parquet for dry flooring and sleek gray microcement for bathroom floors and wet walls. Custom built-in furniture features clean white-lacquered finishes to complement the white painted walls.
Finally, the main facade and the roof are clad in premium slate stone. This material requirement adds a noble, timeless identity to the building, enhancing its architectural presence despite the compact dimensions of the site.
