This residential renovation project transforms an original single-family house in the historic center of El Lloar. The existing structure includes an adjacent plot with panoramic views of the Priorat landscape. The redesigned property serves a dual purpose as a private second home and a vacation rental property.
The new layout spans three distinct levels. The basement level accommodates a private wine cellar connected directly to the outdoor garden. Street access opens onto the ground floor from a sloping alleyway. This main living area features an open-plan kitchen and dining room. The space seamlessly extends onto a large balcony with steps leading down to the garden. The first floor houses two bedrooms and a shared bathroom, while the attic functions as a flexible multipurpose room.
Preserving the building’s heritage, original wooden beams were meticulously restored. At the center of the home, a custom metal staircase acts as a sculptural focal point. It is finished in wrought-iron gray to honor traditional Priorat metal craftsmanship. Finally, bright white walls complement the exposed stone walls and small-format stoneware flooring, establishing a modern rustic aesthetic deeply rooted in the region’s vernacular architecture.
