The project consists of the comprehensive renovation of an abandoned building between party walls, with a architectural heritage protection status and a dual-street facade in the Barceloneta neighborhood. The developer requests to transform it into a single-family house with an office on the ground and first floors, and the remaining floors for the personal use of the owner.
The main architectural element of the building is the staircase. This sculptural piece made of sheet steel and wood is a singular element that runs through all floors and can be viewed from every point within the open-plan interior spaces. Together with the elevator, the wet area, and the building systems, it forms the service core of the building.
The remaining spaces on each floor offer maximum versatility and flexibility to the owner, as per the client’s requirement.
The white coating, glass, and oak wood are the three elements used throughout the project to create a neutral, bright, and minimalist atmosphere that allows for an easy integration of the equipment.
